This past week has been really busy and tiring, so I was pleased when I got a text on Friday from DH that said, “Will you go on a date with me tomorrow?” I emphatically answered “Yes!”, and so yesterday we went to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Fort Worth’s nickname is “Cowtown”, because back in the day I think it was a major place to buy and sell stock. (It still is but I don’t think to the same degree.) Anyway, the stockyards has become a fun little touristy area where there’s a cattle drive twice a day, cowboy (and cowgirl!) museums, and fun shopping and dining. Pictures speak louder than words, so here are some fun shots:
I tried this maze the last time we were here….I barely made it out of there alive! haha
These are the longhorns that are part of the cattle drive every day.
The petting zoo. Those goats wanted that food!
Alpaca
Two week old kids!
This is how we roll… haha
The building where they have rodeos
Every cowboy needs a hat…
White elephanat Saloon…I liked the windows.
Handmade boots…
And finally, no trip to the stockyards is complete without some Texas BBQ! We had brisket, sausage, and pork loin. Yummmmmm
Good food, good fun, and good company. Good Saturday. 🙂
Oh I have enjoyed these photos, thankyou for sharing them!
I fancy Chicago next, but Texas is also tempting me. (Was in Boston & NY Sept ’11)
I’m glad you enjoyed them! Yes we have really enjoyed living here the past 4 years. It’s a neat area. Chicago is awesome though! Love that city.
My boys would love it there.
I am a native to Fort Worth, and am thinking of a blog called COWTOWN CROCHET for all the locals and everyone who wishes to be. What do you think? http://boocoos.blogspot.com
Come see me and maybe we can “hook up”.
